The history
From a field need to an innovative
digital solution
The Empresa de Energía de Boyacá (EBSA) faced a key challenge: strengthening Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) management in high-risk activities typical of the electricity sector—especially field work and constantly changing operational environments.
Traditional processes made timely risk identification, information traceability, and data-driven decision-making difficult. A tool was needed to anticipate risks, standardize controls, and support the worker in real time—even in areas without connectivity.
In response, EBSA—together with Asistencia Técnica Industrial (ATI)—developed PREVEBSA, a customized mobile application built on the technological foundation of ATI POP. Leveraging ATI’s prior experience in mobile solutions for field operations, PREVEBSA integrated risk identification modules, operational reporting, offline work, georeferencing, and analytics—specifically adapted to EBSA’s processes and operating conditions.
The result was a robust, scalable digital solution focused on people’s safety, aligned with the organization’s preventive culture.
The result
Since implementation, PREVEBSA has become a strategic tool for EBSA’s operations, delivering concrete and measurable outcomes:
- Significant improvement in identifying and managing risks in high-risk activities, both on-site and along travel routes.
- Greater engagement from field staff through an intuitive app that supports the worker before, during, and after each task.
- Real-time information availability, with structured reports and centralized data for decision-making.
- Offline work and secure synchronization, enabling uninterrupted operations in low-connectivity areas.
- Stronger safety culture, promoting prevention, self-care, and shared responsibility.
- Data analytics and visualization, facilitating tracking of key OHS indicators and continuous process improvement.
The award
The impact of PREVEBSA went beyond internal operations and received national recognition. In 2025, EBSA received the Honoris CCS Innovation Award, granted by the Consejo Colombiano de Seguridad (Colombian Safety Council)—one of Colombia’s most important recognitions in occupational safety, health, and sustainability.
That year, more than 800 organizations participated, and only 10 achieved the highest distinction. PREVEBSA was highlighted as a benchmark for innovation in the electricity sector, due to its contribution to risk prevention and the protection of workers’ lives.
This award validates the joint work between EBSA and ATI, and positions ATI POP as a technology platform capable of scaling, adapting, and creating real value for organizations looking to transform their processes through applied innovation.
